Hey, Barb
The Client & Challenge
Home renovations are exciting, but for most homeowners, they can also be overwhelming. Hey, Barb was created to change that. Founded by Barbara and Lauren, the app was inspired by their own renovation experiences and the realization that while people love dreaming up their ideal spaces, managing trades, budgets, and timelines can quickly become chaotic.
Hey, Barb’s team needed a brand identity that would capture the essence of their product: a smart, supportive renovation planner that makes the process simple, organized, and even enjoyable.
The challenge was to build a brand that balanced practical confidence with warm personality, something that felt like a trusted expert, but also a friendly companion guiding users through every step of their home transformation.
The Client & Challenge
The strategy centered on positioning Hey, Barb as both an empowering tool and an approachable companion for homeowners. We wanted the brand to feel friendly, supportive, and human, like a trusted friend who knows how to make renovation simple and stress-free. Because Hey, Barb is predominantly an app-based experience, the visual identity needed to translate seamlessly into digital spaces, using simple, intuitive design mechanisms that enhance usability without losing warmth or personality.
The Hey, Barb brand identity was designed to embody the perfect balance between confidence and approachability. The bold, sans-serif logotype conveys strength, clarity, and modernity, qualities that mirror the app’s promise of smart, structured renovation planning, while custom letterforms, like the smiling curve in the ‘Y’, introduce a sense of warmth and friendliness.

Leveraging natural backdrops like skies and gardens uses serene environments to convey a calm and happy journey, contrasting the typically chaotic process of home transformation.
